Tour Overview
This 9-day safari begins on Zanzibar’s idyllic island before you head to Tanzania’s southern wilderness circuit. Experience Ruaha’s vast savannahs and predators, Mikumi’s classic plains teeming with wildlife, and Nyerere National Park’s expansive riverine landscapes filled with elephants, hippos, and rare wild dogs. Transfers between parks combine flights and road travel. Accommodation includes comfortable lodges and tented camps, ensuring a blend of comfort and authentic safari feel.
Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar and Relaxation
Arrive at Zanzibar Airport, transfer to your beach resort, and unwind after your journey. Enjoy the sun, sea, and local culture in preparation for your safari.
Day 2: Flight from Zanzibar to Ruaha National Park
After breakfast, take a morning flight to Ruaha National Park via Dar es Salaam. Arrive at Ruaha, meet your guide, and embark on an afternoon game drive. Spot lions, elephants, and diverse wildlife. Overnight at a lodge or tented camp.
Day 3 & 4: Full Days of Game Drives in Ruaha
Spend two full days exploring Ruaha with morning and afternoon game drives. Enjoy picnic lunches in the bush, soaking in the rich wildlife and landscapes. Return each evening to camp for dinner and rest.
Day 5: Transfer to Mikumi National Park and Afternoon Game Drive
Travel by road or flight to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive. Mikumi’s open plains host giraffes, zebras, lions, and elephants. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 6: Full Day Game Drives in Mikumi
Explore Mikumi throughout the day with morning and afternoon game drives. Relax at your lodge between drives.
Day 7: Transfer to Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)
After breakfast, transfer by road or flight to Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival, settle into your lodge and enjoy an afternoon game drive. This reserve is known for large elephant herds and riverine wildlife.
Day 8: Full Day in Nyerere with Game Drives and Optional Boat Safari
Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives. Optionally, take a boat safari on the Rufiji River to see hippos, crocodiles, and birds from a unique perspective. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Departure from Nyerere to Zanzibar or Mainland
After breakfast, transfer back to Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam by flight or road for your onward journey.
