8 Days Mikumi, Udzungwa & Ruaha Safari

This comprehensive 8-day safari offers an expertly designed journey through the southern circuit of Tanzania. The itinerary begins in Mikumi National Park, often referred to as the “mini-Serengeti,” where expansive plains host thriving populations of elephants, lions, giraffes, and zebras. The journey continues to Udzungwa Mountains National Park—a renowned rainforest destination, famous for endemic primate species, diverse birdlife, and the iconic Sanje Waterfalls. The adventure concludes in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania’s largest and least crowded park, notable for its dramatic baobab landscapes and abundant wildlife, including elephants, big cats, and wild dogs. The package features seamless road transfers from Dar es Salaam, professionally guided game drives and hikes, and carefully selected accommodations in lodges or tented camps.

 

  • Day 1: Dar es Salaam → Mikumi National Park

    Begin your journey with a morning departure from Dar es Salaam, arriving in Mikumi National Park by lunchtime. After a brief orientation, embark on your first afternoon game drive across the open plains, renowned for diverse wildlife sightings. Dinner and overnight accommodation provided at a selected lodge or tented camp.

  • Day 2: Full-Day Game Drives in Mikumi

    Today is dedicated to exploring Mikumi’s Mkata floodplains on morning and afternoon game drives. Expect to encounter elephants, lions, wildebeests, and giraffes in their natural habitat. Enjoy a picnic lunch within the park before continuing the day’s exploration. Dinner and overnight at your camp or lodge.

     

  • Day 3: Transfer to Udzungwa Mountains

    Following breakfast, proceed to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and enjoy lunch. The afternoon is at your leisure guests may opt for a brief walk amidst lush rainforest surroundings. Dinner and overnight in Udzungwa.

  • Day 4: Sanje Waterfalls Guided Hike

    After an early breakfast, set out on a guided hike to Sanje Waterfalls, one of Tanzania’s tallest at 170 meters. Along the route, look out for rare primates such as the Udzungwa red colobus and a variety of bird species. A picnic lunch will be served at the falls. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

     

  • Day 5: Udzungwa → Ruaha National Park

    After breakfast, depart for Ruaha National Park, traveling through scenic landscapes. Arrive at your camp or lodge in time for lunch. The afternoon features your first guided game drive in Ruaha. Dinner and overnight within the park.

  • Day 6: Full-Day Safari in Ruaha

    Set out for a full day of game viewing in Ruaha, with a packed lunch to maximize time in the field. Ruaha’s wildlife is exceptional, including large prides of lions, elephants, leopards, and wild dogs amid striking baobab-dotted terrain. Return to camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

  • Day 7: Additional Game Drives in Ruaha

    Enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives in Ruaha. The park’s remote character ensures a true wilderness experience, far from the crowds. Dinner and overnight in Ruaha.

  • Day 8: Return to Dar es Salaam

    After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight or begin your drive back to Dar es Salaam, concluding your Mikumi, Udzungwa & Ruaha safari.
