This 8-day itinerary immerses you in Tanzania’s rich wildlife across three major parks before concluding with beach relaxation on Zanzibar Island. Start with Nyerere National Park Tanzania’s largest protected area famed for elephants, hippos, and wild dogs. Next, Ruaha offers rugged landscapes and abundant predators. Mikumi’s open plains provide classic savannah game viewing. Finish with a few days on Zanzibar’s stunning coastline, where white beaches and Swahili culture await. Transfers between parks and Zanzibar can be by road or domestic flights. Accommodations include authentic lodges, tented camps, and beachfront resorts.
Day 1: Arrival and Afternoon Game Drive in Nyerere National Park
Fly or drive from your chosen location to Nyerere National Park. After arrival, meet your guide and embark on an afternoon game drive. Look for elephants, lions, hippos, and wild dogs in this vast wilderness. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in Nyerere
Spend the day exploring Nyerere’s diverse habitats with morning and afternoon game drives. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Ruaha National Park and Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, transfer to Ruaha by road or flight. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Ruaha’s baobab-studded plains offer excellent sightings of elephants, lions, and leopards. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 4: Full Day Game Drives in Ruaha
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives across Ruaha’s expansive landscapes. The park is known for large prides of lions and impressive elephant herds. Relax at camp between drives.
Day 5: Transfer to Mikumi National Park and Afternoon Game Drive
Travel to Mikumi by road or flight. Check in and take an afternoon game drive. Mikumi’s open savannahs are home to giraffes, zebras, lions, and elephants. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 6: Morning Game Drive in Mikumi and Transfer to Zanzibar
Begin with a morning game drive, then transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Arrive in the afternoon or evening, and check into your beachfront resort.
Day 7: Relaxation or Exploration in Zanzibar
Spend the day at leisure on Zanzibar’s white sandy beaches or explore cultural sites like Stone Town. Optional activities include snorkeling, spice tours, or dhow cruises.
Day 8: Departure from Zanzibar
Enjoy a final morning on the island before transferring to Zanzibar Airport for your onward flight.
