5-Day Southern Circuit Safari from Zanzibar

Overview
Experience the raw beauty of Tanzania’s Southern Circuit with this 5-day safari from Zanzibar. Discover the untamed wilderness of Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park), home to Africa’s largest concentration of wildlife, and explore the scenic plains of Mikumi National Park, often compared to the Serengeti in miniature. This adventure offers game drives, boat safaris, and authentic African landscapes away from the crowds.

Day 1: Zanzibar – Selous Game Reserve (Flight & Boat Safari)
Your adventure begins with a morning flight from Zanzibar to Selous Game Reserve, one of Africa’s largest and most pristine wilderness areas. Upon arrival, you will be met by your driver-guide and transferred to your lodge or camp for check-in. In the afternoon, set out for a boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. This relaxing excursion offers a unique perspective on the reserve as you glide past pods of hippos, basking crocodiles, and an incredible variety of birdlife. The day ends with a stunning sunset over the river before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

This morning, enjoy breakfast before setting off on a scenic drive to Mikumi National Park. The journey takes approximately six to seven hours, passing through rural villages, beautiful landscapes, and wildlife corridors. Upon arrival in Mikumi, you will head straight into the park for an afternoon game drive. Often referred to as “the Serengeti of the South,” Mikumi offers open horizons teeming with zebras, wildebeests, elephants, and giraffes. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge or camp in Mikumi.
