Travelers can choose between a scenic flight or an adventurous road transfer from their starting location, arriving to a pristine landscape of rivers, lakes, and open plains. Day 1: Arrival and First Game Drive
The journey begins with either a morning flight over Tanzania’s sweeping wilderness or a road transfer through rural villages and vast landscapes. On arrival at the Selous airstrip or park gate, you’ll be met by your professional safari guide and transferred to your lodge or camp for a welcome drink and orientation. After settling in, lunch is served overlooking the river or bush plains. In the late afternoon, head out for your first game drive in an open 4×4 vehicle. The soft evening light paints the landscape gold, offering excellent opportunities to spot elephants moving to the river, hippos emerging from lagoons, and predators beginning their nightly hunt. Return to camp after sunset, freshen up, and enjoy a hearty dinner under the stars before retiring to the sounds of the African night.
Day 2: Morning Safari and Departure
Wake early for tea or coffee, then set out on a dawn game drive when wildlife is most active. This is a prime time to witness lions returning from their night patrols, antelope grazing in the morning mist, and birdlife in full chorus. Depending on your preference, the morning can also include a short walking safari or a boat trip along the Rufiji River, offering a close look at crocodiles, hippos, and aquatic birds. After returning to the lodge for breakfast, there’s time to relax and soak in the surroundings before your transfer back either by flight or road to your starting location, marking the end of your Selous adventure.
