2-Day Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Safari

Experience Tanzania’s premier wildlife destinations with a concise, two-day itinerary: Lake Manyara National Park and the iconic Ngorongoro Crater. Day one features the verdant forests, distinctive soda lake, and acacia woodlands of Lake Manyara. Expect sightings of tree-climbing lions, elephants, giraffes, and flamingos. On the second day, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a comprehensive game drive; the area is renowned for its dense populations of lions, rhinos, zebras, and buffalo. This package is well-suited for travellers seeking an efficient yet immersive forest, lake, and crater wildlife experience.
Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park
Your day starts with a timely pick-up from your hotel in Arusha, Karatu, or the surrounding area, followed by a direct transfer to Lake Manyara National Park. Upon arrival, your dedicated guide leads you on a morning game drive, traversing the park’s forested regions, acacia woodlands, and open plains. There’s a strong possibility you’ll view iconic wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and, conditions permitting, even the elusive tree-climbing lions.
Lunch is served picnic-style, featuring a scenic setup with views of the soda lake or the sweeping plains, the exact location determined by current wildlife activity. In the afternoon, your exploration continues along the lakeshore and at the forest’s edge, with the option for a brief walk to observe colobus monkeys, baboons, and other resident animals.
After a productive day of wildlife viewing, you’ll transfer to a quality lodge or camp near Ngorongoro for dinner and an overnight stay, ensuring comfort and convenience as you prepare for the next stage of your journey.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you’ll set out for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, descending into the crater for a morning game drive. This is one of the premier opportunities to observe lions, elephants, rhinos, zebras, buffalo, and a wide range of other wildlife that thrive in this distinct ecosystem. Around midday, enjoy a scenic picnic lunch amid the crater’s striking landscapes and prolific animal life. The afternoon is yours to further explore the crater floor, optional short walks are available if you’re interested in photography or birdwatching. The day concludes with your ascent to the crater rim and a transfer back to your hotel in either Arusha or Karatu, signalling the conclusion of your Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro safari experience.
