Experience the world-famous Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s oldest and most popular park, celebrated for the annual wildebeest migration. Around one million wildebeest, joined by 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle, move in long, winding columns across the plains, crossing crocodile-infested rivers and sparking thrilling predator-prey dramas. Nearly 8,000 calves are born daily during this epic migration season.
Wildlife and Scenery
Even outside the migration, the Serengeti offers spectacular wildlife viewing. Large herds of buffalo, elephants, giraffes, and thousands of antelope species graze across the savannah. Lions, leopards, and cheetahs hunt throughout the park, alongside spotted hyenas and three species of jackal. The park also shelters diverse smaller species including agama lizards, rock hyraxes, dung beetles, and over 500 bird species, from ostriches to black eagles.
The landscape is equally stunning — golden grasslands stretch to the horizon, transforming into lush green seas dotted with wildflowers during rains. Wooded hills, towering termite mounds, and winding rivers lined with fig and acacia trees complete this iconic African vista.
