Saadani National Park
Why Visit: Discover where Tanzania’s wildlife-rich bush meets the pristine Indian Ocean coastline, creating a unique safari experience just a short trip from Dar es Salaam.
Saadani National Park is East Africa’s only wildlife sanctuary featuring stunning white sandy beaches along the Indian Ocean. Palm trees sway in the ocean breeze while elephants, lions, giraffes, and other wildlife roam freely near the shore, blending beach life with the wild.
Wildlife and Scenery
The park boasts diverse animals including giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, waterbucks, greater kudu, eland, sable antelope, vervet monkeys, and frequent herds of up to 30 elephants. Predators like lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, and black-backed jackals also thrive here.
Boat safaris along the mangrove-lined Wami River offer excellent chances to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species such as mangrove kingfishers and lesser flamingos. The beaches serve as one of mainland Tanzania’s last major green turtle breeding sites.
